The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, September 4, 1896.

Carolina Sampson, wife of our esteemed fellow citizen, Oscar Sampson, died at her home south-east of town Wednesday, of consumption.

Carolina Twedt, was born in Norway 42 years ago. In 1866, she left her fatherland for America with her family which consisted of a father, mother, four brothers and one sister. She was married about 25 years ago to Mr. Oscar Sampson, and has lived in the vicinity of Roland for a number of years, being highly respected for her true womanhood and religious views. She leaves a husband, two daughters and a son. Her father, J. Twedt, lives with a son near Roland, she has three brothers, Joseph, Ole and John, in Story county, and a brother Able in Emmet county. Her only sister is Mrs. Able Helvig of Roland. The Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the west church at 12 o'clock, by Pastor Smedal. A large audience was present to do their last honor to a loved one before she was laid to rest in our beautiful cemetery. Sympathy is extended to the family.
