The Roland Record, Roland, Story County, Iowa, October 10, 1895.
DIED-Tuesday evening at nine o'clock, at his home three miles west of town, Erick Jacobson, about 70 years of age. Death was caused by kidney trouble. The funeral sermon will be preached at the west church, Friday, by Rev. Smedal, and the remains will be laid to rest in the Roland cemetery. Mr. Jacobson was born in Norway in 1825, and immigrated to America in 1848. He settled in Illinois where he resided until 1855, when he was married to Miss Betsey Wostre and one year later the couple cast their lot in Story county where they have since resided. Five sons and four daughters blessed this union, and all of them, with the aged mother, survive the father. Mr. Jacobson, as the above dates will show, was one of our pioneer settlers and always being a highly respected one, the entire community are grieved at his death.
