Dee E. Hornbacher, age 80, of Gould City, Michigan died April 13, 2006 in Manistique, Michigan.

He was born November 26, 1925 in Nevada, Iowa the son of the late Isaac and Cleta (Lyons) Hornbacher and was a graduate of the Nevada High School.

During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

On June 27, 1948 he married the former Lois L. Lowry in Marion, Michigan. They made their home and raised their children in Nevada, Iowa while Dee was self-employed as a farmer. Dee and Lois moved to Gould City, Michigan in 1986, from Iowa, following Dee's retirement.

Dee is survived by his wife, Lois L. Hornbacher of Gould City; sons, Dee Earl (Deborah) Hornbacher, Jr. of Pagosa Springs, CO and Eric Todd (Julie) Hornbacher of Columbus, WI; daughters, Neva Brim of Indianapolis, IN, Eva Mathews of Simpsonville, SC and Trudy Hornbacher of West Chicago, IL; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; sister, Sarah Ann (Ivan) Hansen of Nevada, Iowa; along with nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the Messier-Broullire Funeral Home in Manistique. Funeral services followed at the funeral home. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Curtis, Michigan.
