THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Wednesday, April 11, 2006.
David Alan Disbrowe, 62, of Story City, died Tuesday April 11, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 14, at St. Petri Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in rural Story City.
David was born Aug. 4, 1943, in Ames to Richard and Ida (Johnson) Disbrowe. He graduated from Story City High School in 1961. He served active duty in the U.S. Navy from 1961-64 and in the Navy Reserves until December 1966. Following the military, he worked for the DOT and Knous Heating and Cooling. He spent the last 34 years of his working career at Iowa State University; he retired in 2001. He enjoyed woodwork, hunting, trapping and fishing. He especially enjoyed annual fishing trips to Canada and Minnesota. He was a member of the American Legion and St. Petri Lutheran Church in Story City. He married Kay Phillips Oct. 28, 1978. They were blessed with 27 years together.
He is survived by his wife, Kay; one daughter, Stephanie of Kaneoke, Hawaii; one step-son, Kent Phillips and wife, Misuk; two step-granddaughters, Kristine Gade and Kathy Gelpe of Springfield, Va.; one brother, Mike (Julie) Disbrowe of Maple Grove, Minn., and Steve (Linda) Disbrowe of Story City; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Disbrowe, and one infant daughter, Rene Disbrowe.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m., at Soderstrum Funeral Home in Story City.
