MAXWELL - Loren R. Rhoads, 92, of Maxwell, died Monday, March 13, 2006 at Story Long Term Care in Nevada.

Loren was born October 13, 1913 in Mosier, Missouri, the son of Fred and Emma (Newland) Rhoads. He graduated from Maxwell High School in 1933. Loren was united in marriage to Elizabeth "Libby" Gardner February 12, 1934 in Newton, Iowa. Libby preceded Loren in death April 18, 1998. Loren was a farmer and had also worked at the Firestone Tire Company in Des Moines for 30 years. Loren was a member of the United Rubber Workers Union.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law: Ada (Jack) Pierce of Maxwell, Iowa; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Dene Rhoads of Overland Park, Kansas, Bob (Anna Maria) Rhoads of Plano, Texas; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; and a sister: Nora Crumb of Des Moines, Iowa.

Loren was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a granddaughter, Jennie K. Pierce; a sister, Irene; and 5 brothers: Bob, Clyde, Wilbur, Forrest, and George.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Maxwell with Rev. Dean Kelly officiating. Burial was in the Peoria Cemetery near Maxwell. A lunch was served at the Maxwell Area Community Center following the committal service.
