THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Tuesday, March 14, 2006.

Gary Dean Samson, 68, of Nevada, died Friday, March 10, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames.

Cremation services were handled by Stevens Memorial Chapel of Ames.

Born Feb. 1, 1938 in Ames, he was the son of Carl and Lillian Samson. He graduated in June 1956 from Ames High School.

Before retirement in 2004, he was employed by Central Iowa Construction and Heideman Drywall as a warehouse manager.

He honorably served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force from 1957-61, mainly stationed in North Africa.

He was an avid outdoorsman, as a hunter and a fisherman. He also enjoyed mushroom hunting and collecting antique crocks.

He is survived by two sons, Kurt Samson of South Williamsport, Pa., and Keith Samson of Ames; one granddaughter, Morgan Samson of South Williamsport, Pa.; his mother, Lillian Samson of Ames; one brother, Doug Samson of Ames; and one sister, Carla Mossholder of Phoenixville, Pa.

A remembrance celebration will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday, March 16, in the Community Room at 3001 Regency Court, Ames, for family and friends.
