Betty Jean Coffin of Ames died Friday, March 3, 2006. Services are pending at Stevens Memorial Chapel for Monday.

THE AMES TRIBUNE, Ames, Story County, Iowa, Saturday, March 4, 2006.

Betty Jean (Hewitt) Coffin, 84, of Ames, died Friday, March 3, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, March 6, at Campus Baptist Church in Ames with the Rev. Will Hatfield officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. in the Dayton Cemetery.

Betty Jean was born Sept. 30, 1921, in Kalo to George and Matilda (Green) Hewitt. She graduated from Otho High School in 1939. She married Vernon Coffin July 3, 1940, in Fort Dodge. She was an active member of Campus Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Vernon of Ames; one daughter, Betty (Leroy) Hartquist of Dayton; one son, Dick (Linda) Coffin of Norman, Okla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter; two granddaughters; two brothers; and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames.

Memorial contributions may be directed to Campus Baptist Church.
