Elwyn L. Myhre, 72 of Nevada died on Saturday, February 18, 2006 at his rural Nevada home. Memorial services were Wednesday, February 22 at Chet Ryan Mortuary with Pastor Myron D. Herzberg officiating. Burial of the cremains will be at a later date in the Sheffield Cemetery in Story City.

Elwyn was born on June 7, 1933 in Story City to Irvin and Ethel F. (Sheffield) Myhre. He was a 1950 graduate of Shipley High School. On April 26, 1952, he married Patricia Faye Young in Mason City. In 2005, Elwyn retired after 22 years as a high voltage electrician for Meisner Electric. He was a member of the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada, Newton Moose Lodge, and the Cambridge Masonic Lodge. Elwyn loved being with his family and enjoyed fishing, hunting and tractors.

Elwyn is survived by his wife, Patricia Myhre of rural Nevada; 3 sons, Elwyn Myhre, Jr. and his wife Sandy (Fry) of Sundance, Wyoming and Mark Myhre and his wife Jody (Cannell) of Longmont, Colorado; a daughter, Lois Ann Smith and her husband Tim Smith of Nevada; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

Elwyn was preceded in death by his parents, 2 grandchildren, a brother-in-law, aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, February 22 from 5-7:00 P.M. at the Chet Ryan Mortuary in Nevada.
