Dorene L. Clemons, 69, of Nevada, died Thursday at Rolling Green Village in Nevada.

Dorene was born Oct. 4, 1936 near Zearing, the daughter of Martin and Ada (Hannusch) Mehlisch. Dorene graduated from Zearing High School in 1955 as class valedictorian. She was united in marriage to Robert "Bob" Clemons on June 25, 1955 in Saint John's Lutheran Church in State Center. Bob preceded Dorene in death January 30, 2003. She was a member of Memorial Lutheran Church of Nevada. Dorene enjoyed painting, gardening, needlework, baking cakes and taking care of the kids at home.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law: Robert (Pam) Clemons of Boone; four daughters and sons-in-law: Penny (Edd) Bever of Manatoo Springs, Colo., Cathy (Charles) Walker of Nevada, Peggy (Lyle) Butler of Nevada, Ann (Doug) Gull-Clemons of Rockford, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother: Ralph Mehlisch of Colo; and a half sister: Helen Healy of Texas.

Dorene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters: Maria and Anna Mae; and four brothers: Raymond, Lyle, Harold, and Armour.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday at the Memorial Lutheran Church in Nevada. Visitation will be 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Cremation will follow the services.

Memorials may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation and to the Memorial Lutheran Church.

The Bacon Funeral Home and Crematory in Nevada is in charge of arrangements.
