MR. AND MRS. O. T. MOLDE HAVE BEEN MARRIED HALF CENTURY
[Photos of each included with article.]
Today is the fiftieth wedding anniversary for Mr. and Mrs. O. T. Molde and their relatives and friends are extending them their congratulations and good wishes. Mr. Molde is confined to his bed with illness and for this reason no festival gathering has been planned for the day, but it is commemorated by friendly visits and messages.
Mr. Molde was born in Saude, Norway, November 28, 1854, and is 79 years old, and his wife was born April 10, 1862, also at Saude Norway, and is now 71 years old. She came to America with her parents, the late Johannes and Barbro Jacobson (Aabe), in 1871 and ten years later, in 1881, Mr. Molde came to this country. Both of them have lived in this community continuously since that time.
Their marriage took place on December 13, 1883, at Bergen Lutheran church, Rev. C. B. Jacobsen performing the ceremony. After the marriage ceremony, the wedding festivities were held on the Molde farm, which was then owned by J. C . Jacobson and was located a short distance from the bride's home. The residence there was vacant at the time and provided considerably more room than in the Jacobson home.
Mr. Molde, who had been engaged in carpenter work, took up farming after his marriage, and after renting land for several years, bought the farm six miles south of town which was their home for over 30 years. The retired from active farm life in the spring of 1919 and moved to their home in Roland, which they had purchased, and where they have since resided.
Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Molde, five of whom are now living. Two children, Tillie and Sylvia, died in infancy, Otis, died March 9, 1927, and Emma (Mrs. I. M. Halverson), died April 21, 1927. The surviving children are Mrs. T. B. Thompson, Theodore Molde, Mrs. Leonard Larson, Mrs. Jonas Arneson and Mrs. Frank Vail, all of whom are living in this community.
