Patrick O'Donnell, another of the old settlers of Story County, passed away at his home four miles northeast of Colo Sunday night (April 3, 1904), after an illness of less than a week's duration. He was born in Lugboy, County Mayo, Ireland in 1826, moving to England in 1845 and in 1857 emigrated to America, first settling in Pennsylvania and in 1860 removed to Illinois where he was married to Bridget Brady in 1867. To this union were born one daughter and two sons, the daughter dying at the age of five years, leaving the two sons---Luke and Conner, to console the aged widow, who is called to mourn the loss of her companion. He came to Colo with his family 34 years ago, living in town several years, after which he settled upon the homestead north of town, where he has resided for the last 25 years. He was an honest man, a good neighbor, and well thought of by all who knew him. Besides the members of his immediate family he leaves a sister in Illinois, who with his cousin, Martin O'Donnell of this place are the only surviving relatives in this country. The funeral services were held in Colo on Tues. from St. Mary's Church at 10 o'clock conducted by Rev. Father Nicholas, after which interment was made in St. James Cemetery, Colo.
