Former Inwood Resident Dies:

Dora Porter, 92, of Rock Valley died Wednesday in the Rock Valley nursing home. Services were Saturday at the First Reformed Church in Inwood with the Rev. Don White officiating. Burial was in the Richland Cemetery in Inwood.

Mrs. Porter, the former Dora Heemstra, was born December 7, 1890 in Orange City. She married Jacob Porter on January 3, 1912, at Monroe, S. D., and they farmed in the LeMars area, moving to Inwood in 1930. In 1945 they retired to Inwood and in 1978 moved to the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Rock Valley.

Mrs. Porter was a former member of the Farm Bureau of Lyon County and a former active member of the Canton-Inwood Hospital Auxiliary and the First Reformed Church. She was a former 4-H leader and was honored as Siouxland Neighbor of the Year in the 1940's.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, John of Rock Rapids and Stanley of Inwood; three daughters, Mrs. Wilson (Rose) Duven of Pella, Mrs. Herman (Dorothy) Moen of Inwood and Mrs. Don (Alice) Clark of Alma, Kansas; one brother, Bert of Pine River, Mn; one sister, Mrs. John (Grace) Van Pelt of Hull; 20 grandchildren and 41 great-grandchildren.
