Robert Nicholas Hoffmann was born May 16, 1939, in Hospers, Iowa, the son of Aloylus and Rose (Niichel) Hoffmann. He spent his youth in the Hospers area along with his four brothers and four sisters. He received his education in Hospers, graduating from St. Anthony’s Catholic School which is located there.
From May 1963 to April 1969, Robert served his country with the United States Army, spending one year and four months overseas. He was honorably discharged at Fort Hamilton, New York and returned home to Hospers.
On June 14, 1975, Robert was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Schlichte. They spent the bulk of their married life in Archer, Iowa where Robert was employed with the local Coop. Their family was made complete when their daughter, Lori was born. Besides being with friends and family, Robert’s interests included racing and attending car shows.
On Monday, February 10, 2025, Robert was reunited with loved ones who had gone before: his parents, Aloylus and Rose Hoffmann; brothers: Wilfred and Gerald; and sisters: Viola and Bernice.
Keeping his memory close in heart are his wife, Ruth Hoffmann of Archer, Iowa; his daughter and her husband, Lori (Jeremy) Darnell of Boyden, Iowa, and their children: Mia, Ty and Jaycee; great-grandchildren: Nayomi and Harper Reiser; stepgrandsons: Bryce (Rachel) Darnell of Rock Rapids, Iowa, and their children: Raven and Raya, Sage Darnell (his fiancée, Faith Wollmann) both of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; sisters: Alice Stapenhorst of Sheldon, Iowa and Patricia Steffes of Granville, Iowa; brothers: Marvin Hoffmann of Sheldon, Iowa and James Hoffmann of Minneapolis, Minnesota; other relatives and friends.
