Hull, IA: Cornie T. Jansen, 95, of Hull, Iowa, formerly Rock Valley, Iowa, died Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull where he had resided the last few years. Cornie’s wish was to be cremated and there are no services scheduled at this time.Cornie Jansen, son of Teunis and Dena (Zeutenhorst) Jansen, was born October 14, 1928, in Sioux County, Iowa, one of twelve children. Cornie grew up near Sioux Center, Iowa and attended country school through the 8th grade. He then worked at the egg plant near Sioux Center. He met Anna Marie Koel and on June 22, 1948, the couple was married. They lived most of their married life in Sioux County except for a 4-year period when they lived in Idaho. Cornie worked for area farmers then had his own grinding business and later spent several years trucking.
Cornie was very sociable and enjoyed visiting with people and sharing stories. He loved to hunt, fish, bowl, play cards, and go dancing with Anna. In his later years he found his green thumb and enjoyed flower gardening until moving to Pleasant Acres Care Center in Hull, Iowa.
Cornie is survived by his wife of 76 years, Anna; 5 children, Carol Kooima of Rock Valley, Iowa, Twilla (Chuck) Hoekstra of Rock Rapids, Iowa, Larry (Judy) Jansen of Casper, Wyoming, Sharon (Duane) Boeve of Milford, Iowa, and Sandra Jansen of Eureka, Illinois; 17 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Harriet Tesch of Spencer, Iowa and Thelma (Ron) Van Zee of Sioux Center, Iowa; sister-in-law, Lorna Koel of Madison, South Dakota; and brothers-in-law, Derrick Koel of Sioux Center and John Miltenberger of Sloan, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Teunis and Dena; and 8 siblings, Gerdena Jansen, Edward Jansen, Ann Kamerman, Cora Broek, Gerdena “Gordie” Miltenberger, Mina Uittenbogaard, Bernice De Vos, and Muriel Van Otterloo.
