Marie was born on November 17, 1932 to Peter L. Youngers and Susanna C. Robinet Youngers in Sheldon, Iowa. She graduated from Sheldon High School. Marie’s time at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa was cut short to return home to care for her ill mother. In 1952 she married Irvin L. Streff, of Alton, Iowa. In addition to her mother (1894-1951), father (1884-1952), and husband (1926-1985), she was preceded in death by her six brothers (Howard (1969), Ray (2015), Robert (2015), Alfred (1996), Marion (2004), and Peter Jr. (2005)). She is survived by five children: Gary Streff (Jane Young), Larkspur, Colorado; Randal Streff, Englewood, Colorado; Suzanne Streff, Scottsdale, Arizona; Ronald Streff, Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico; and Shirley Streff (Jan Franzen), Sandy, Utah. Five grandchildren: Tara and Tina (Gary); Melanie and Molly (Randy); and Marie (Shirley). Four great-grandchildren: Trey, Dylan, Reese and Henry.

Marie was a wife and mother on the family farm outside Alton. She was an avid gardener and a particularly good cook and baker famous for her cinnamon rolls. After Irvin’s death she took over managing the family farms. She spent a lot of time on her many hobbies in addition to gardening and baking, which included singing in the choir, playing piano, a beloved Girl Scout leader, ceramics, traveling, sewing, quilting, and more that endeared her to the many who enjoyed her gifts. She moved from the family farm to Orange City, then returned to her hometown of Sheldon, before moving to assisted living at Fieldcrest in Sheldon at the beginning of the pandemic. In December of 2021, she moved to memory care in Sandy, Utah where she could be closer attended to by her daughter Shirley.
