Hummel, Harlan 1931-2024

Harlan Hummel 1931-May 7, 2024 Harlan Hummel, 93, of Fort Myers FL formerly of Hawarden IA died May 7, 2024 surrounded by family. Harlan the son of Clarence and Erma Hummel was born in 1931 at Akron, IA. Harlan served in the Marines 1959-1952 during the Korean War. Harlan resided in Hawarden for much of his live. He was the owner of Hawarden Lumber and was involved in civic organizations during his time there. He served on the city council and as mayor and a Sioux county magistrate.

Survivors include his wife, Peggy: his children, Brian (Kristin), Brad (Jenni) Becky and Barbara (Xavier); sister Kay Swanson; 10 grandchildren; eight great grand children; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Donny. The family will hold a private memorial service this summer.
