Marlene Gladys Van’t Hul, 91, of Inwood, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at Fellowship Village in Inwood.

Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 14th at Inwood First Reformed Church in Inwood, with Rev. Rob Horstman officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday also at the church. The Porter Funeral Home in Inwood is assisting the family. Marlene Gladys Van’t Hul was born November 12, 1932, in Hull, Iowa, the daughter of Jurrien “Jerry” and Cynthia (Meerdink) Dykstra. She was raised on a farm north of Hull and attended Lincoln Township #1 through the 8th grade and graduated from Hull High School in 1951. Marlene was united in marriage to Clarence Van’t Hul on September 8, 1954, at the First Reformed Church in Hull. While Clarence was in the US Army they made their home in El Paso, Texas for three months and then to Detroit, Michigan where she worked at the Federals Department Store for 21 months. They moved to Sioux Center, Iowa for 3 years and then to Inwood, Iowa for 26 years where Marlene was a bookkeeper for their business Van’t Hul Auto Sales. They ran Van’t Hul Enterprises in Colorado Springs, Colorado before moving to Canton, South Dakota in 2001. Marlene has been a resident of Fellowship Village in Inwood since April of 2023, where she passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the age of 91 years.

Marlene and Clarence were members of the First Reformed Church in Inwood and enjoyed taking trips each summer with their children. They had visited 48 of the 50 states throughout the years.

Marlene is survived by their 4 children, Larry (Susan) Van’t Hul of Divide, Colorado, Linda (Steven) Haight of Ellston, Iowa, Lois (Doug) Hoff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Debra (Larry) Van Roekel of Larchwood, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Bryan (Charity) Garner, Jon (Christine) Garner, Kayla Van’t Hul, Clinton (Jessica) Haight, Catelin (Aaron) Haight-Haack, Angie (Joe) Joswiak, Rachel (Grant) Sunne, Kelli (Andrew) Pillatzki, Heidi (Cooper) Hausmann, Lance (Katlyn) Van Roekel, Holly (Kyle) Scholten, and Brett “BJ” Van Roekel (Fiancé Cassie Van Beek); 21 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Alvina Van’t Hul of Rock Valley, Iowa and Linda Van’t Hul of Sheldon, Iowa.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; 3 brothers and their wives, Joel and Tracy Dykstra, Donald and Anna Mae Dykstra and Leroy and Henrietta “Henny” Dykstra; sister and her husband, Elizabeth and Cornie De Vos; and granddaughter, Christa Haight.
