Sopha Helen Erickson, whose death occurred on Friday evening, September 23, was born near Preston, Wisconsin, November 20, 1874. She came to Iowa with her parents in 1881, and has lived near Inwood since.

Her death was a shock to all. She complained all summer of throat trouble, having contracted a severe cold during the rainy months of spring. Nothing serious, however, was thought of it until a few days before her death. She became unconscious on Wednesday evening and although medical aid was summoned, she never after recovered from this state, but quietly passed away, her parents being the only members of the family at the bedside.

Sopha was a quiet unassuming girl, yet ever ready to aid in every good work; and on many occasions sacrificed her own pleasures for he benefit of others.

She united with the M.E. church at Inwood three years ago and was a consistent christian till her death.

It was her ambition to become a successful teacher and with this hope in view she made good use of all her educational advantages. Her teachers say that at all times she was ambitious, persevering and thorough.

The deceased leaves a father, mother, four sisters and two brothers to mourn her loss. the family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.

A Friend.
