Mrs. Bonita “Bonnie” Kramer, age 73, of Hospers, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2024, at the Prairie Ridge Care Center in Orange City.

There will be a memorial service on Friday, May 10, at 1:30pm, at the Trinity Reformed Church in Hospers, with the Rev. Kurt Bush officiating. Refreshments and a time of visitation and fellowship with the family will follow the service, at the church until 3:30pm. A private family interment will take place at the Hospers Cemetery near Hospers. The Oolman Funeral Home in Hospers is in charge of arrangements.

Bonita Faye, the daughter of Raymond G. and Alice J. (Vander Maten) Van Dyke, was born on June 2, 1950, in Orange City. She grew up west of Hospers and was a student at the public school, graduating from the Floyd Valley High School in 1968. After attending the Spencer School of Business, “Bonnie” briefly lived in Denver, Colorado, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota, before returning to Northwest Iowa.

On November 26, 1977, she was united in marriage to Frederick Jay Kramer at the First Reformed Church in Hospers. Together, they made their home in a number of different communities including Hospers, and most recently, Sheldon. In earlier years, Bonnie was employed at K-Products in Orange City but spent the majority of her adult life working as a homemaker and raising her boys. After more than 45 years of marriage, Fred passed away on June 27, 2023, and shortly thereafter, Bonnie became a resident of the Prairie Ridge Care Center

Bonnie was a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Hospers. She liked playing games, especially card games, and looked forward to spending time with her children and grandchildren. She rarely missed one of her sons’ ball games, and when she was able, she enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s various activities.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four sons, Nicholas Kramer, and his wife, Heidi, of Hull; Joshua Kramer, and his wife, Mandi, of Hospers; and Matthew Kramer and Michael Kramer, both of Sheldon; four grandchildren, Jacob, Brevyn, Aayden and Aubyn Kramer; a sister and her husband, Ramona and Brian Garvey, of Orange City; a brother and his wife, Randall and Judy Van Dyke, of Spencer; three sisters-in-law, Kim Van Dyke, of Mena, Arkansas; Judith, and her husband, John Solsma, of Hospers; and Luann Kramer, of Bradenton, Florida; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Dale “Butch” and Vicki Kramer, of Hospers; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Dustin Kramer; a brother, Wayne Van Dyke; and her mother and father-in-law, Jacob and Arlene Kramer.

Memorials will be given to the family for future designation.
