Jacob Dibbet age 89 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Monday, July 5, 2021, at the Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley, IA.

A funeral service will take place at 10:00 AM, Friday, July 9, 2021, at Netherlands Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Rev. H. Hofman officiating. Burial will follow in the Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center, with military honors by Doornink-Brunsting American Legion Post No. 199 and VFW Post No. 6129 of Sioux Center.

Public visitation will be Thursday, July 8th from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

In lieu of flowers the Dibbet Family prefers memorials be directed to the Netherlands Reformed Christian School.

Jacob “Jack” Dibbet, Jr. was born August 29, 1931, to Jacob and Sophia (Van Ravenswaay) Dibbet near Sioux Center, Iowa where he grew up in a farming family. He attended country school through the eighth grade and honorably served his country in Korea before returning home to marry his love, Priscilla Van Voorst, in 1955. They farmed west of Sioux Center for nearly forty years and raised three children: Rodney, Darla and Julie before retiring to Sioux Center in 1994. Priscilla passed away in 2014 after 59 years of marriage.

Jack was a life-long member of the Netherlands Reformed Church and served for twenty years on the consistory. He also gave much of his time to the establishment of the Netherlands Reformed Christian School and was a school board member for several terms. In addition, he served on the Memorial Funeral Home board and was an active member of the VFW post in Sioux Center.

He will be remembered for his friendly disposition to all he knew and especially for being a loving husband, a caring father, and a doting grandfather. He spent many hours with family, often working and fishing with his grandchildren for which he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

Jacob is survived by his daughter-in-law Gloria (Gary) Teunissen, daughter Darla (Dan) Lais, daughter Julie (Ralph) Van Zweden, 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild, as well as his sister Arlene Hoogendoorn, and sister-in-law Henrietta “Girlie” Dibbet.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Sophia, wife Priscilla and son Rodney as well as his brothers, John and Richard, and his sisters, Alice (Van Voorst), Gertrude (Draayer) and Joan (Maassen).
