Joyce Moeller, 90, of Sioux Center, IA died Friday, July 22, 2011 at Royale Meadows Care Center in Sioux Center. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-8PM, with the family present from 2-4PM at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. A funeral service will be held Monday at 10:30AM at Central Reformed Church of Sioux Center with Rev. R. Van Rathbun officiating. Interment will be held following the funeral service in Memory Gardens Cemetery of Sioux Center. Agnes "Joyce" Moeller was born November 6, 1920, to Ralph and Agnes (Muilenburg) Boeyink. Following graduation from Sioux Center High School, Joyce attended Western Union College (Westmar) in Le Mars for one year and then taught country school. In 1944 she and her sister, Leona, enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where she served as a W.A.V.E. in the Hospital Corps at Camp Pendleton, California for two years. She married Jacob (Jack) Moeller on December 13, 1946. An avid golfer, Joyce served on the Sandy Hollow Golf Association board, and was active in community and church affairs. Over the years she played in numerous golf tournaments with her friends. Joyce enjoyed playing cards, solving crossword puzzles, and was a devoted Iowa Hawkeyes and Twins fan. Left to mourn her loss are her daughter, Suzanne (Al) Franken and sons: Kent (Kathy) Moeller and Tom Moeller all of Sioux Center. Joyce enjoyed a special bond with her six grandchildren: Kris Franken (Andy Reynolds), Allyson (Dave) Hommes, Jason (Megan) Moeller, Jessica (Chris) Underberg, Mickie Moeller, and Jack Moeller and took great pride in her 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, known affectionately as "The Aunties": Leona "Lee" Russell of Le Mars, Roberta "Bobbie" Colon of Sioux Center, and Donna (Arnie) Kwikkel of Rock Rapids, who met monthly for lunch and a rousing game of Sequence. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob; her son Martin and his wife, Sue; and infant granddaughter, Tricia; brothers: Gary and Jake Boeyink and sisters: Gladys Bruinsma, Esther Bleeker and their spouses.
