Last week we were just able to note the demise of old gentleman Schoep. We are now able to state some particulars of his life. He came here from the Netherlands thirty seven years ago. He bought a great deal of land. In 1884 he had 1680 acres and at the time one of the largest land owners in the county. He also had in his possession at one time the eighty acres east of Main Street, where now our finest residences have been built. For two years he owned a store in company with his son. His first wife died 10 years ago and he afterwards married Mrs. Bomgaars. He leaves five children who are all well to do as also have some property and money. Friday afternoon he was buried from the Secon Reformed church, of which he was a member.
