Those who wish to remember Clip in a special way, we ask that you cherish the gift of time shared with your family and friends and think of Clip when you hear barbershop music or as you pass over all the bridges of your lifetime.

Clarence, known as Clip to his family and friends, was born on September 8, 1940 on the family farm near Rock Valley, Iowa to Cornelius and Susanna (Baron) Schreuder. Clip attended high school in Rock Valley, where he enjoyed playing baseball as a catcher with his best friend, Ed. All through his life, Clip enjoyed reflecting on his baseball days.

Following graduation from high school, he eventually pursued a career as a crane operator. Clip proudly and precisely placed beams to build bridges all over the Midwest. He was an integral part of building many of the bridges you may know and pass over frequently. He lived in Spencer before moving to Aurelia. Clip and Janet shared many wonderful years together and shared travels to their favorite places, especially fishing trips to the family cabin in Pequot Lakes, Minnesota and autumn along the North Shore of Lake Superior. He was proud of his Dutch heritage and would often start speaking in Dutch during a conversation. He loved Cadillacs, spending time with family and friends talking over coffee and barbershop music. He would often break out into song whenever he heard accapella music playing.

Grateful for sharing Clip’s life are his life partner Janet Galles; stepchildren, Sarah Galles (Robert) of Colorado and their children, Noah and Kayden, Luke (Michelle) Galles of Texas and their children Aidan and Skylar; brother-in-law, Bill Landegant of Sioux Falls; niece Sue (Jan) Nordby of Sioux Falls; nephew Scott (Rita) Landegant of Aberdeen; niece Mary Ellen Anderson of Minnesota; also many great nieces, great nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Clip was preceded in death by his brother Albert “Bud” Schreuder; sisters Helen “Jean” Van Kekerix and Alma Landegant; brother-in-law Elmer Van Kekerix; and nephews Bruce Landegant and Wayne Landegant.
