Amanda Jane (Maassen) Baier, age 38 from Hull, IA, Sunday, November 26, 2023, passed away from complications after receiving her 2nd double lung transplant at the Fairview Transplant Center in Minneapolis, MN.

Private family funeral services will be 10:30 AM, Friday, December 1, 2023, at Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center with Rev. J.J. Witvoet, officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

Visitation will be from 4-7PM on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center. The family will not be present.

Amanda was born July 24, 1985, to John & Judy (den Hoed) Maassen of Rock Valley, IA. At the age of 9 months, she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis, and at the age of 24 years old she received her 1st double lung transplant. This incredible gift gave her the blessing & privilege of living a full and healthy life for 14 more years.

However, this past year of her life has been a struggle for her, she had several bouts of pneumonia that she never fully got over and then chronic rejection set in. She had hope for receiving another set of lungs which she did, once again on October 10, 2023. Unfortunately, after giving her very best there arose too many complications for Amanda to overcome.

Amanda had a lot of different interests that made her an outgoing, charismatic, and caring person. She enjoyed nature, animals of all kinds, crafts, and new experiences. She worked numerous different jobs, the latest being the Pella Corp., which she really enjoyed. Amanda will be greatly missed, especially by her son (Bryce) and her family & friends.

She is survived by her son, Bryce; her parents, John and Judy (den Hoed) Maassen; her sisters: Jaclyn (Neil) Schelling, Rachelle, Katelynn; brother, Christian; her nieces and nephews. She is also survived by maternal grandparents, Art and Alma den Hoed; several aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Ray and Joan Maassen.
