HAWARDEN, IOWA ~ Patricia Louise Koch, 76, of Hawarden, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at the Crown Pointe Health Care Center in Sioux Center, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Associated Church in Hawarden, Iowa. Coffee and bars will follow the funeral service, prior to the private family committal service at the Grace Hill Cemetery. A Prayer Service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden. Patricia requested that memorials be directed to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

Patricia Louise Koch was born on May 10, 1947, in Hawarden, Iowa to Scott and Marjorie (Youngkin) Younie. Patricia graduated from West Sioux High School in 1965 and then attended Nurses Training at the Methodist School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, graduating as a Registered Nurse in 1968.

Pat was proud to be a Nurse and her career included working at the Hawarden Community Hospital, a School Nurse at West Sioux at Hawarden, a Surgical Nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, and at the Surgery Center in the Dakota Dunes and worked with Dr. Coffin, a Podiatrist in Sioux City.

Pat married Ken Koch on December 19, 1997. They lived in Hawarden. She was a devoted Mommie to her poodles.

Pat was a member of the Associated Church. She was active in MIC, volunteered at the library and was a Resident Advocate at Hillcrest Care Center for several years.

Pat enjoyed crafts, ceramics, quilting, knitting, and making greeting cards with the stamping technique. She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling.

She leaves behind her husband of 26 years, Ken Koch; her brothers, Scott R. (Mary Ann) Younie of Sioux City, their daughter, Holly (David) Kasten and their children Rhone and Ramsey, and James Younie of Hawarden; her sister-in-law, Vicki Younie of Hawarden and her children Jerred (Joey) and their children Madisen and Reagen, Josh and his children Emma, Rylee, and Peyton; her in-laws, Loren and Sheryl Koch of Kingsley, Iowa, Darlene and Wendall Roling of Rapid City, South Dakota, and DeEtte and Neil Peck of Sioux City; and several cousins and friends.

Those preceding her in death are her parents; her youngest brother, Richard Younie; grandparents; nephew, Justin; aunts and uncles and her three poodles.

Pat’s family would like to thank the staff at Crowne Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center and the nurses and staff at Sioux Center Health Hospice and Home Care.
