Mrs. Mary Kennedy died at her home in this city last Friday morning from hear failure after a brief illness. She had been in fairly good health up to the day prior to her death. The funeral was held at the Catholic church in this city Sunday morning and the remains were taken to Akron for interment. Mary O’Reilly was born in Ireland in 1844. She came to America when 16 years of age and on May 2, 1871, was united in marriage to Thos. (Thomas) Kennedy at Rutland VT. They came to South Dakota in 1873 and took a homestead a few miles west of Chatsworth where she resided until about seven years age when she came to Hawarden to make her home. Five daughters were born to them, one of who died about 18 years ago. Her husband also passed away a number of years ago. The children still living are Mary, Margaret and Anna who have made their home here with their mother, and Mrs. P. J. Lass of Beresford. The bereaved daughters have the sympathy of all in their hour of sorrow.

Mary Reilly was born 25 May 1844 Kilglass Ireland died 7 Mar 1913 Hawarden IA. She was the daughter of Peter Reilly 1800-1852 and Mary Mc Guire 1805-1878. She married Thomas Kennedy born 1840. Children: Margaret 1873, Catharine 1877-1961, Anna 1876 and Mrs. Peter J. Lass.
