Mr. Douglas Mouw, age 66, of Orange City, passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at the Pioneer Memorial Home in Orange City.

A visitation with the family present will be held on Sunday, October 15, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm, at the Oolman Funeral Home in Orange City. A prayer service will take place on Monday, October 16, at 10:30am, at the funeral home, followed by interment at the West Lawn Cemetery in Orange City. There will be a memorial service on Monday, at 11:30am, at the First Reformed Church in Orange City with the Rev. Debra Rensink officiating.

Douglas Jay was born on March 22, 1957, in Orange City, to Kenneth W. and Betty D. (Vande Brake) Mouw. He was raised in Alton and attended the Floyd Valley Public School. Following his graduation in 1975, he attended Western Iowa Tech, in Sioux City, earning his associate degree in accounting.

Doug first worked for a few years at the West Iowa Telephone Company in Remsen and on the Diamond Vogel Paint Crew, before spending more than 25 years driving truck for MCT Transportation in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He received many safe driving awards, including being a part of the Accident Free Million Mile Club. He also participated in the Trucker Buddy Program, exchanging letters with his nephew Micah’s second grade class in the Sioux Center Elementary School, frequently bringing his truck to the school for “Show and Tell”. He even let the kids take turns sitting in his truck and honking the air horn. After retiring from truck driving, Doug worked part-time at Jonny’s Place in Orange City, Service Master in Sioux Center, and most recently, Pizza Ranch in Orange City. He moved into the Pioneer Memorial Home in April of 2023.

Mr. Mouw was a member of the First Reformed Church in Orange City, where he enjoyed participating in a men’s Bible study. He collected coins and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye’s fan.

Survivors include five siblings, Randall Mouw, of Rock Valley; Debra, and her husband, Mark Rensink, of Sioux Center; David Mouw, and his wife, Cara, of Underwood; Daniel Mouw, and his wife, Jodi, of Omaha; and Donna, and her husband, Dale Kluckman, of Le Mars; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and stepmother, Geraldine “Geri” Mouw, he was preceded in death by a brother in infancy, Terry Mouw; a nephew, Brent Rensink; and a great-niece, Caitlin Mouw.

Memorials will be given to Whispers of Love, Hope, & Joy in Sioux Center.
