Jerod Brink, 48, of DeWitt, Iowa, passed away Friday, June 16, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, following a severe heart attack, with family by his side.

A Celebration of Life will be held in July, on Saturday the 1st, at Buzzy’s in Welton, from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. with a time of sharing memories at 3:00 p.m.

Jerod Samuel Brink was born January 17, 1975, in Orange City, Iowa, to Mary (Vrieze) and Jerry Brink. He spent his early years in Hospers, Iowa, moving to DeWitt in 1990, where he attended high school. He married Jessica (Youmans) on April 23, 2011.

With the biggest heart and a serious and caring nature, Jerod was known for his remarkable intelligence and vast range of skills. He possessed a self-taught ability to fix and build anything, and his willingness to lend a helping hand to both loved ones and strangers was unparalleled. Jerod's passion for learning led him to become heavy-duty diesel mechanic. He excelled in his career and most recently held the position of Shop Superintendent at Linwood Mining. Jerod's expertise extended far beyond his profession. He was a skilled electrician, plumber, framer, roofer, millwright, welder, and a jack of all trades, building two houses and a barn for his small farm. As a highly proficient heavy equipment operator, he dug out a pond on his property where his kids could fish and enjoy the water.

Additionally, he took great pride in raising his own livestock, gardening vegetables with his wife, and knowing where his food came from.
Above all, Jerod took immense pride in his role as a father. He was a loving and understanding parent to his children, and his patience was truly remarkable. He created countless treasured memories with his family, embarking on weekend trips to the Dells, camping, canoeing, and boating. In earlier years, Jerod found joy in riding his Harley. More recently he enjoyed playing cards, hosting game nights with friends, shooting guns, golfing, listening to music, and attending concerts. He reveled in the celebration of the 4th of July, hosting memorable gathering where he was undoubtedly the life of the party.
Jerod's sudden departure has left an irreplaceable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and communities. He touched so many lives for the better.

Jerod is survived by his loving wife, Jessica; his children, Cheyeanne and Liam; his parents, Mary Brink and Jerry Brink; siblings, Eric (Kathleen) Goslinga, Gina (Paul) Tiffany, and Amy Lamfers; father and mother-in-law Mark and Lora Youmans, and brothers-in-law, Jake (Jessica) and Ben; and many nieces and nephews. He leaves behind a host of treasured memories and will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Arrangements are in the care of Schultz Funeral Home, DeWitt.
