Joe Elberts, well to do farmer who resided seven miles northwest of Rock Valley died April 23, of Bright’s disease and was buried Monda afternoon under the auspices of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Rev. Frank Travis delivered the funeral oration at the house in the presence of a large gathering of neighbors and friends after which the remains were laid to rest in Valley View cemetery. The children who are bereft of a father have the sympathy of the community in their sore affliction.

Adolf Joseph Elbert born 8 Feb 1860 New Munster, Kenosha WI died 23 Apr 1909 Rock Valley IA the son of Joseph Elbert 1818-1906 and Dorothea Maria Kubiltz 1830-1897. He married Elizabeth Christina Ebbing 1886-1900; children were Aloisus ‘Ollie’ Elbert 1888-1977, Rosa Elbert 1890-1891, Josephine Elbert 1893-1992, Vincent Elbert 1895-1895 and Louis Elbert 1898-1980.
