Douma, Hattie born June 23, 1832 76 years 10 Mo 12 days born Neth. died May 5, 1908 Hull of Cardiac failure. Her parents were Jacob Harkema/Harksma and Sara Haagema/Haagsma in the Sioux county death records; however, in the Netherlands birth records she was recorded born to Jakob Haagsma and Sjaardtje Boersma. Her husband was Jacob Douma 1823 died abt March 11, 1907. See his obit on this page.

Mrs. Douma died Tuesday at the home of her son in law Marinus Posthumus at Doon. She had been making her home up there for a year or so past. She was past seventy and died of the infirmities of age. She leaves six children to mourn her loss. Her body was sent down from Doon Wednesday evening and was buried Thursday afternoon from the Dutch Reformed church at Alton. Rev. Van Duine officiated. Deceased lost her husband and an invalid daughter within the past two year. The children are Jacob and Oscar of Alton, Jelle of Hull, Mrs. Posthumus of Doon and Douwe of Sheldon.
