Kaemingk, Magdalene (Mrs. Frank) 1935-2023

Magdalene Sarah Kaemingk, age 88 of Sioux Center, Iowa passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023 at Avera McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

A celebration of life service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Faith Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with Pastor Bob Pollema officiating. Open house with the family will be Saturday morning from 10 AM until the start of the service. A light breakfast will be served.

Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Magdalene was born to Andrew and Bernice Oordt (Hough) in Lynden, Washington on May 1, 1935. She attended Second Christian Reformed Church. She graduated from Lynden Christian High School, and then attended Calvin College. She married Frank Kaemingk, and they lived in Michigan, California, and Kansas before moving to Denver, Colorado.

Her daughter was born in Cadillac, Michigan, and both sons were born in Denver, Colorado. Magdalene worked at the Denver Theological Seminary Library. She married Joe Liberatore in 1984, and she helped with the accounting of their business. Magdalene continued to live in Denver until 1996. She then moved back to Lynden, Washington to help care for her aging mother. She then moved to Tucson, Arizona and enjoyed the beautiful weather and time with her daughter's family. She loved visiting her grandchildren and would often stay for extended periods of time.

Magdalene then moved to Sioux Center and lived at New Homestead Apartments before moving to independent living at Crowne Pointe in 2022. She was a woman of consistency, and she loved her daily routines, including prayer and devotions. She enjoyed reading books to her grandchildren and gifted them with many books by Max Lucado.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children: Kristine Kaemingk and Gene Gross of Tucson, AZ; Karl and Shirley Kaemingk of Sioux Center, IA; and Kendal and Mindy Kaemingk of Parker, CO.

Magdalene enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Kade Gross, Danika Gross, Sarah and Zach Jensema and their sons Jaethan and Zander, Heather and Mark Tiemersma, Andrew and Taylor Kaemingk, Nicole Kaemingk, Randall and Carley Kaemingk, Anna Kaemingk, and Evan Kaemingk.

Magdalene is survived by her sister Gerrie Raymond and her husband Jim and brother Bernie Oordt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers: Hilmer, Gerb, Marty, and Bob; two sisters: Magdalena and Esther; brothers and sisters-in-law; and three great grandchildren whom she never met on earth.
