Wilma Nellie was born on July 26, 1923, on her family’s farm near Alton, one of five children born to Pier and Alyda (Kosters) Wiersma. She was raised on the farm and attended country school, starting one year early to be with her sister who was homesick.

On December 14, 1943, she was united in marriage to John Foreman in Orange City, while he was serving in the military. They initially made their home on John’s grandparents’ farm near Maurice, where John farmed the land and Wilma was a homemaker. In 1949, they purchased farmland and moved to Montevideo, Minnesota, where they raised their family. Ten years later, they returned to northwest Iowa, settling in Orange City. After raising their children, Wilma spent several years working as a cook at Northwestern College in Orange City and doing housework for nearby families. John passed away on May 3, 1983, in Sioux City, after more than 39 years of marriage. In 2013, Wilma moved to the Pioneer Memorial Home, and in 2020, she became a resident of the Prairie Ridge Care Center, both in Orange City.

Mrs. Foreman was a longtime member of the Calvary Christian Reformed Church in Orange City, where she participated in Harmony Circle, Coffee Break, and the Orange City Christian School’s Monica Society. She also volunteered at Bethany Christian Services, Mid Sioux Opportunity, and the Orange City Public Library. She enjoyed playing cards, doing crafts, and cooking meals for her family.

Survivors include her four children and their spouses, Dr. Robert and Charlotte Foreman, of Edmund, Oklahoma; William and Wendy Foreman, of Orange City; Linda and Vern Sybesma, of Centennial, Colorado; and Perry and Roxie Foreman, of Orange City; ten grandchildren, Matthew Foreman, Nathan (Alyssa) Foreman, Shawn (Brad) Zwart, Tim (Abby) Foreman, Dan (Brittany) Foreman, Lisa (Brad) Kats, Rachael (David) Smith, Miriam (Todd) Webster, Jennifer (Phil) Elgersma, and John (Allison) Foreman; 24 great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Huizenga, of Orange City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
