Joyce Kramer age 68 of George, Iowa died unexpectedly Friday, July 21, 2023 at Osceola Regional Hospital in Sibley, IA.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 27, 2023 at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, with Reverend Dale Lint officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George.

Joyce Jean Kramer was born on February 16, 1955 in Sheldon, IA, the daughter of Daryle and Hermina (Westra) Hilbrands. She grew up on a farm between Matlock and George, IA and attended school in George. Joyce graduated from George High School in 1973.

On June 16, 1972, Joyce was united in marriage to Jeffrey Kramer at the Matlock Reformed Church in Matlock, IA. At the beginning of their marriage, they lived in Storm Lake, IA until 1981. While living in Storm Lake, Joyce worked for Sears. They moved to George, IA and raised their four children, Kelly, Troy, Dustin, and Kimberly. The couple owned and operated JJ’s Tap for a time. Joyce later worked for Lewis Drug in George and then Sheldon, and most recently worked for George Office Product as an office manager.

Joyce was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, where she was very active as a Sunday school teacher and a member of the lady’s circle.

She enjoyed gardening, flowers, feeding the birds, playing the piano, and watching the Iowa Hawkeyes on TV. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them places or attending their sporting events. Joyce will be greatly missed.

Those left to cherish her memory are her four children, Kelly (Teresa) Kramer of Dell Rapids, SD, Troy Kramer of Evansville, WI, Dustin Kramer of George, IA, and Kimberly (Shane) Stettnichs of Longmont, CO; eight grandchildren, Cory, Kody, Taylor, Austin, Kyler, Pyper, Kasen, and Acelyn; her mother, Hermina Hilbrands of the Christian Retirement Center in Sheldon, IA; two sisters, Cindy (Steve) Onken of Sibley, IA, and Darla (Steve) Kruse of George, IA; many nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Daryle Hilbrands; and husband, Jeff Kramer.
