Charlene M. Kloster, better known as "Char" to friends and lovingly referred to as "Chuckie" by family, of Longmont, CO died Sunday, April 2, 2023 at Brookdale Senior Living. She was 90.
She was born November 3, 1932 in Le Mars, Iowa to Douwe and Anna (Rowenhorst) DeBoer. She was born an identical twin and was the youngest of five children. On June 16, 1954, Miss Charlene DeBoer married Mister Delnar "Del" Kloster in Alton, Iowa. To follow, she had three children, Jeffrey Kloster, Sheri Kloster, and Gary Kloster. She lived in Orange City, Iowa until 1969 when her family moved to Longmont, CO.

Charlene had a passion for cooking and catering; she was best known for her famous cinnamon twists and never missed a chance to feed the people she loved! She worked at The University of Colorado in food services until her retirement in 2005. She was an active member of First Lutheran Church in Longmont. She was also an avid supporter of Longmont High School Athletics- specifically the boys basketball team. She rarely missed a game, especially home games. Legend has it, she is and will always be the team's biggest fan.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Douwe and Anna DeBoer, her three brothers Homer DeBoer, Dudley DeBoer, and Robert DeBoer, and her loving husband Del Kloster.

Charlene is survived by her twin sister, Charlotte (DeBoer) Meyer, her three children, Jeffrey and wife Kristine Kloster, Sheri Kloster, and Gary and wife Denise Kloster, her seven grandchildren Allyson Martinez, Lindsay (Tyler) Rashid, Sara Martinez, Jenna Chapman, Cade Kloster, Kelle Kloster, and Benjamin Martinez, and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by extended family members near and far, many faithful friends, the LHS basketball family, and the greater community of Longmont, CO.

Cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary. Memorial services will be held on April 25, 2023 at 11:00 am at First Lutheran Church in Longmont. Memorial contributions can be made to Meals on Wheels in Longmont.
