Bruce Wendell Visser of Lorida, Florida passed away Thursday, May 11 at Lawnwood Hospital in Ft.Pierce Fla.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Negril, Jamaica on Wednesday, May 31, where his ashes will be spread on his favorite beach, at Barry’s IrieStyle Norman Manley Boulevard. Condolences can be sent to Jennifer Bart 12149 Southwest Bennington Circle Port Saint Lucie, FL., 34987

Bruce was born on September 24, 1953 to Henry and Lois (Reinders) Visser. He grew up in Orange City, and graduated from Orange City Christian grade school and Unity Christian High School in Orange City. Soon after, he moved to Grand Rapids, Mich., and enrolled in Calvin College. Mid-way through his first semester he was kicked out for driving his motorcycle through the halls of his dormitory. This started his life in the construction business.

He was a professional at many different construction trades. While in Michigan, he was married to Charlene Warner. After the marriage ended he moved to Florida and married Sally Ritsema and two daughters were born to this union. After this relationship ended, Bruce moved to Georgetown, Grand Cayman. While on the island he married June Smith. After the marriage dissolved Bruce moved back to Florida where he lived out his life.

Bruce’s hobbies were building fast cars, traveling to various Caribbean Islands and working by helping many friends and family. Bruce also enjoyed supporting his daughters with advice and attending his grandkids activities. Bruce didn’t want to admit it, but he enjoyed coming back to Orange City to connect with family and friends.

Bruce is survived by his daughters, Dr. Jessica Visser, MD, MBA and Jennifer Bart, MSN, APRN, FNPC. Jennifer and husband Ron have three children, Dylan, Ashton, and Isla.

He is also survived by five siblings: Darlo Vander Wilt of Albuquerque, N.M., Linda Tolonen of Orange City. Joel-Lee and wife Mary of Hudsonville, Mich., Stanton and wife Linda of Orange City, Alan and wife Carilee of Pensacola, Fla., and many nieces and nephews.

Proceeding him in death were his parents, Henry and Lois Visser, brother-in-law Paul Tolonen and sister-in-law Teri Vander Wilt.
