Douma, Marcia Faye (Mrs. Robert "Bob") 1951-2023

Marcia Faye Douma, 72, daughter of Cornie and Grace (Vander Werff) Hartog, was born on April 17, 1951. She grew up in Sanborn, Iowa, and attended Sanborn Christian Grade School and Western Christian High School. Marcia furthered her education by obtaining her nursing degree.

On December 1, 1970, Marcia married Robert “Bob” Douma at the Christian Reformed Church in Sanborn. Bob and Marcia made their home on the Douma family farm northwest of Sanborn where they raised their four children - Ross, Kent, Nathan, and Adam. Marcia took pride in a clean house and enjoyed affirming and empowering people from all walks of life.

Marcia was a member of the Sanborn First Reformed Church (ARC). She was a devoted wife and mother as well as a model of Christian love, patience, and generosity to both her family and others. Along with her many other attributes, Marcia was easily identified by her infectious laugh.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 52 years, Bob, her four children, ten grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren: Ross and Shawn Douma and their family: Dustin (Courtney) Douma - Gracen, Erika (Marcus) Post - Watson and Landon, Caleb Douma, Kent and Heidi Douma and their family: Keegan Douma (Jazlin De Haan, fiancé), Addison Douma, Kolby Douma, Nathan and Leah Douma and their daughter, Lydia Douma, Adam and Jennifer Douma and their family: Abigail Douma, Caden Douma, Brady Douma; siblings: Doris (Eldon) Krikke and Curt (Darlene) Hartog; sisters-in-law: Delores Douma and Linda Douma; aunts: Delores Vander Werff and Theodora Lokhorst; many nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Marcia was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ron Hartog.

What did Marcia enjoy?

♦ Being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother

♦ Christian education

♦ Bringing meals to the field for Bob and the boys

♦ Going to the sporting events of her children and grandchildren

♦ Taking the grandkids out to eat

♦ Praying and learning from God’s word

♦ Tending to her flowers in her backyard

♦ An encouraging word and smile for everyone

♦ Watching the Minnesota Twins

Throughout her life, Marcia’s family has always been important to her, as she was to them.
