Nellie Mullinix age 79, of Chatsworth, IA , formerly of Larchwood, IA died Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 18th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. with the family present at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, IA. There will be a closing prayer service at 6:45 p.m. at the church.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 19th at the United Church of Christ in Larchwood, with burial to follow at the Larchwood Cemetery.

The arrangement are in the care of the Jurrens Funeral Home of Larchwood, IA.

Nellie Maxine Mullinix was born on December 19, 1943, in Larchwood, Iowa, the daughter of Max and Nellie (Burgers) Van Den Hul.

As a young lady Nellie worked as a waitress, and then became a homemaker when she married Joy Mullinix. She then worked for Schroeder Funeral Home in Akron, IA and later she worked at Hawarden Nursing Home in the kitchen. She most recently worked at the Hawarden Deli before she retired. Nellie enjoyed playing cards, working in the garden, fishing, and going to the Casino.

On August 23, 2021, she married John P. Stotz in Elk Point, South Dakota. Together they lived in Chatsworth, IA. In April, Nellie became ill, and was taken to the hospital in Hawarden until being transferred to Lyon Specialty Care in Rock Rapids, Iowa. She died at Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital on May 9, 2023, at the age of 79.

She is survived by her husband, John Stotz of Elk Point, SD; a daughter, Tammy Mullinix of Omaha, NE; a son, Donald Mullinix (special friend, Rachel Nelson) of Akron, IA; seven grandchildren, Zoe (Tanner) Spahns, Laken Mullinix, Alayna Mullinix, Sam Mullinix, Maya Mullinix, Aidan Preslar and Chloe Preslar; six siblings, Tina Markle of Ankeny, IA, Betty (Robert) Morrison of Larchwood, IA, Marinus (Sharon) Van Den Hul of Colorado Springs, CO, Gerry (Van) Leffler of Kathleen, GA, Helen Crawford of Brandon, SD, and Becky Breuer Of Larchwood, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by parents, Max and Nellie Van Den Hul; five brothers, Herman Van Den Hul, George Van Den Hul, Mike Van Den Hul, Ralph Van Den Hul, and Gerald Van Den Hul; and two sisters, Wilma Mulder and Helene Van Den Hul.
