Steven Fischer age 74 of Sioux Center, Iowa died Saturday, April 8, 2023, at Sioux Center Health.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center with Rev. Stephen Breen officiating. Interment will follow the service in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Sioux Center.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 9:00AM until the time of the service 10AM at Memorial Funeral Home.

Steven George Fischer was born January 1, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Siebert Fischer and Clara (Heersma) Wagenaar. In the mid 70’s Steven moved to California for a short time, before joining his family in Sioux Center, Iowa. He worked at Hope Haven. He lived at The New Homestead, Franken Manor and later Crown Pointe in Sioux Center, where he remained until his unexpected passing, this past Saturday, April 8, 2023.

Steven enjoyed watching baseball and football, especially the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears. His favorite time of the day was mealtime. As time passed Steven’s memory began to diminish, but he always remembered his sister’s name and birth date.

He is survived by his sister, Carol (Vern) De Boer of Rock Valley, IA; several nieces and nephews and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Siebert Fischer and Clara Wagenaar; and his stepfather, Andrew “Bud” Wagenaar.
