Hllbert De Weerd March 9, 1930-July 14, 1997

Hilbert De Weerd, 67, of Sioux Center died Monday, July 14, at his home. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center with the Rev. Robert Drenten officiating. Burial was In Memory Gardens Cemetery.

De Weerd was born to Bert and Hattie (Van Holland) De Weerd on March 9, 1930, in Rock Valley. He married Nellie De Vos on March 9, 1951, in Sioux Center. The couple lived and farmed north of town. He was a member of Bethel Christian Reformed Church in Sioux Center. He enjoyed farming.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters and their husbands, Prlscilla and Mark Jansma of Maurice and Muriel and Billy Betsill of Jonesboro, Georgia; three sons and their wives. Larry and Donna, Verlyn and Arletta and Brad and Emalee, all of Sioux Center; four brothers and their wives, Dick and Anna of Pella. John and Ann of Rock Valley, Gerald and Gladys and Gordon and Helen, all of Sioux Center; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Alvln.

At the funeral service. Pat Rozeboom was the organist and Kathy Harmelink the soloist. Hymns were "His Eye is on the Sparrow" and The Lord's Prayer." Congregational hymns were "Lead Me, Guide Me" and "I Serve a Risen Savior." Casket bearers were Greg Jansma. David Jansma, Todd De Weerd, Kevin Jansma, Trent De Weerd and Craig De Weerd. Honorary bearers were Cory De Weerd, Andrew Kots, Marcus De Weerd and Jonathon Kots.
