Leaann's obituary
LeaAnn Vande Griend passed away on April 20, 2020 in Scottsdale, Arizona after a sudden trip to the hospital. LeaAnn is survived by her daughter Georgia McAlister, son-in-law William McAlister, granddaughter Sophia and step-granddaughter Trudy. The second youngest of her seven siblings, LeaAnn leaves behind three sisters and three brothers, brother-in-law and sister-in-laws and many nieces, nephews and friends.

LeaAnn grew up on the family farm in Sheldon, Iowa and attended school here. She moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 1989 where she raised her daughter Georgia. Shortly after Georgia left for college, LeaAnn moved to Scottsdale, Arizona and eventually bought a home in Fountain Hills, AZ to enjoy a warmer, dry climate. She earned her master's degree in Healthcare Administration in the later part of life.

When LeaAnn visited home in Iowa she made sure to meet and catch up with any friends she could while she was in town. LeaAnn had the ability to make friends wherever she went, being very friendly, personable and a good communicator. She loved music that "makes you move" enjoyed fashion and beautiful, colorful and lively things. She loved to decorate and had a passion for southwestern style, her final residence was Fountain Hills, AZ. She had three Bichon Frise breed dogs during the time after her daughter Georgia was born (1988). Heather, Annie and Callie (Calypso). Callie is now living with her "Aunt Carla" and her four poodles.

LeaAnn was full of life and had passion for all things that gave her joy. She loved the Lord and knew Jesus Christ as her savior. She enjoyed baking, cooking/grilling, watching NASCAR to see her son-in-law pit race cars and listening to/watching/reading Joyce Meyer and listening to all kinds of music including praise and worship. She particularly loved songs by Chris Tomlin.

She will be forever in our hearts and missed greatly.
