From the Alton Democrat, December 12, 1941:

Mrs. Warnshuis Dies in New York

Mrs. Anna Warnshuis, wife of Dr. A. L. Warnshuis, a boyhood resident of Alton, passed on recently at her home in Bronxville, N.Y., according to a letter received by Mr. W. S. Slagle from his niece, Mrs. Helen Slagle McConnell, of Bronxville.

Dr. Warnshuis’ father was the first pastor of Alton’s Reformed church, and the family will be recalled by early residents here. Dr. A. L. was known as “Lib” and attended school here for some years. He and Mrs. Warnshuis were missionaries at Amoy, China, for twenty years and for the past fifteen years Dr. Warnshuis has been secretary of the International Missionary Council. They reside in Bronxville, neighbors and warm friends of the Luther McConnell family.
