Kathlyn “Kathy” Eleanor Beek, age 77, of Boyden, Iowa passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at Sanford Sheldon Senior Care in Sheldon, Iowa. Her Funeral Service will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at the First Reformed Church in Boyden, Iowa with Rev. Heath DeJong and Rev. Dr. John Hartog III ~ officiating.

Burial will be in the Sheridan Township Cemetery in Boyden, Iowa

Visitation with the family present will be at 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the First Reformed Church in Boyden, Iowa.

Arrangements are under the care of the Vander Ploeg Funeral Home in Boyden.

Kathlyn “Kathy” Eleanor Beek, age 77, of Boyden, IA peacefully entered the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, July 4th, 2022 with her loving family at her side. Kathy was born on July 31, 1944 in Volga, South Dakota to Peter and Agnes (Dykstra) Zuiderhof. At a young age, Kathy and her family moved to Boyden where she attended country school, the Christian School and later graduated from Boyden-Hull High School in 1962. Kathy met John Beek in 1964 and they were united in marriage on September 25, 1965 in the First Reformed Church of Boyden, Iowa. The couple made their first home in the George, Iowa area. John and Kathy made several moves in the early part of their marriage residing in Des Moines, IA and Minneapolis, MN before returning to Matlock, Iowa in 1971. In 1974 they moved to their current home in Boyden, IA. Kathy worked at the Farmers Savings Bank, Hastings Studio and was the secretary for the Boyden First Reformed Church.
Kathy was the beloved mother of 5 children. She spent many years raising her family. She devoted 19 years to taking special care of her youngest daughter Kerissa “Angel” Beek who went home to Jesus on April 13, 2005.
Kathy was a member of the Boyden First Reformed Church. She was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and always knew when the next game was happening. Go Hawks! She also really enjoyed opening her home to multiple cats who were well fed and cared for.
Kathy passed away at the Sanford Senior Care Center under hospice care. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John; 4 children, Jason (Angie) Beek, their children, Brandon (Jennifer) Kirchner and their children, Nora and Thomas Kirchner of Yankton, SD; Matthew (Amber) Kirchner and their children, Payton, Paige and Kyle of Lismore, MN; Michael Kirchner of Sioux Falls, SD and Jonathan Beek of Inwood, IA; Alana (Chad) Goeringer and their children, Chase and Alyssa of Greenwood, MO; Jay (Linda) Beek and their children, Ethan and Brett Beek of Harrisburg, SD; and Justin Beek and his children, Tavyn and Kyra Beek of Sioux Falls, SD; a sister, Lisa (Roger) Nelson of Boyden, IA; and multiple nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Kerissa “Angel” Joy Beek; her parents, Peter and Agnes (Dykstra) Zuiderhof, her grandparents, George & Katie Zuiderhof and William & Elizabeth Dykstra and a brother Wesley, Zuiderhof.
