Don B. Mallette, age 92, of Doon, IA, passed away on Sunday morning, January 16, 2022, at the Whispering Heights Health Center in Rock Valley, IA.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday, January 28, 2022, at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, IA. Military Rites will follow outside the church and inurnment will take place at the Grace Hill Cemetery, Hawarden, IA. at a later date.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Don B. Mallette was born February 7, 1929, at Hawarden, Iowa, the son of Verne and Ruby (Dibbern) Mallette. He grew up in Hawarden, Iowa but, in 1941 the family moved to Suffolk Virginia as his father was called for a job in the Norfolk Naval Shipyard. They returned to Hawarden in 1946, where he graduated from high school. He went on to Western Electric and Coyne Electric and attended a business school in Des Moines Iowa. He farmed for most of his life. On July 1, 1951, Don was united in marriage to Bernice VanBuskirk in Hawarden, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Douglas and Sherry. The couple made their home in Hawarden from 1951 to 1954, when they moved to a farm near Doon, IA. After his retirement in 1983, Don and Bernice wintered in South Padre Island, Texas and in 1995 they made their winter home in Alamo, Texas until 2015. Don was an avid golfer and fisherman and enjoyed reading mystery novels.

Left to cherish his memory are his son, Douglas (Sandi) Mallette of South Sioux City, NE; his grandchildren, Reed (Amy) of Rockledge, Florida and Megan (Robert) Neal of Doon, Iowa; five great grandchildren, Ella, Vylet, Lilith, Victoria and Penelope.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Verne and Ruby Mallette, his Spouse Bernice and his Daughter Sherry Clausen and his brother Forrest Mallette.
