Rock Valley, IA: Sharon Jolene Van Veldhuizen, 79, of Rock Valley, Iowa, died Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Hegg Health Center in Rock Valley. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 16, at 2:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home of Rock Valley with Pastor Jesse Walhof officiating. Burial will follow at Valley View Cemetery of Rock Valley. Visitation, with the family present, will be held prior to the funeral service from 1:00-2:00 PM at the funeral home.

Sharon Jolene (Kruizenga) Van Veldhuizen, daughter of Paulie and Janet (Vander Velde) Kruizenga, was born October 7, 1942, at Rock Valley, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Bernie Van Veldhuizen on October 23, 1959.

Sharon worked at K-Products and later went on to work for 25 years at Groschopp. Sharon was an avid sprint car race fan and also enjoyed crafts, crocheting, and crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Bernie; 4 children, Linda (Ron) Oelrich of Randolph, Nebraska, Connie (Harlan) Van Otterloo of Hospers, Iowa, Mike (Lety) Van Veldhuizen of Sioux City, Iowa, and Dan Van Veldhuizen of Rock Valley; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Paula (Roger) Negaard of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paulie and Janet Kruizenga.
