Betty Rikkers, 90, of Sioux Center, Iowa died Friday, July 8, 2022, at Crown Pointe Care Center in Sioux Center.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00AM on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the Memorial Funeral Home in Sioux Center with Reverend Roger Voskuil officiating. Interment will follow the service in Hope Cemetery of Hull, Iowa. To view the service please follow: Betty Rikkers Service

Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Sunday, July 10, 2022, at the Memorial Funeral Home of Sioux Center.

Betty Ann (Tjaden) Rikkers was born June 1, 1932, to Ralph and Esther (DeBoer) Tjaden near Wesley, Iowa. After graduating from Titonka High School, Betty graduated from Waldorf Jr. College in elementary education in 1951. She later attended Iowa State University where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics in 1957. Betty taught for 6 years before she was married.

Betty was joined in marriage to Henry William Rikkers on June 24, 1959, at the Woden Christian Reformed Church near Woden, Iowa. The couple made their home near Hull, Iowa. Betty turned her attention to being a homemaker and mother to her three children: William, Audrey and Henry. Betty and Henry moved to Sioux Center in 1966, where they raised their family.

In her free time, Betty spent hours reading, sewing and tending to her garden. She was a longtime member of Centerpoint Church (formerly, First Reformed Church) of Sioux Center.

Betty is survived by her three children: Bill (Lori) Rikkers of Hartford, SD; Audrey (Richard) Cogan of Sioux City, IA and Hank Rikkers of Sioux Falls, SD; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; two siblings: Mary Heikens of Milford, IA and Paul Tjaden of Britt, IA.

She was preceded by her Husband of 57 years, Henry Rikkers; a stillborn son; her parents; a brother, Kenneth and a sister Nancy; and a grandson, Nathanael Cogan.
