Caroline Catherine Douma was born on October 5, 1929, to Alden and Catherine (Peters) Walraven. She would spend her entire earthly life in Sioux Center. She graduated from the 8th grade at SC Christian School and graduated from SC High School in 1946 at the age of 16.

She and Ken Douma were united in marriage on September 6, 1949. They were blessed with four children.

Caroline was well known in the community as a faithful volunteer with many programs, including the SC Hospital Auxiliary, as well as Hospice mentor. She had a love of music-- playing the organ, the piano and singing soprano. Her main role was that of 'mom'. After her children were older, she worked at Dordt College as a kitchen helper, a librarian and then working at KDCR radio until her retirement in 1998. Between the years of 1971-1976, she tirelessly helped to manage the Siouxland Motel.

Those left to cherish her memory and learn from her example are her children: Ned and Judy Douma of Sioux Falls, SD; Ray (Carla-1951-2014) Weeks of Cedar Rapids, IA; Lyle and Beth TenHaken of Sioux Falls, SD; Kathleen "Kathy" and Leon Van Kley of Sioux Center, IA; 14 grandchildren and their spouses; 42 great grandchildren; her loving sister, Ellen Vermeer; In-laws-Dorothy Karssen; Larry and Elaine Ebel; her many nieces and nephews.

Meeting her in glory are Ken Douma, Carla Weeks, her parents and her parents-in-law.
