From the Alton Democrat, August 15, 1941, Rock Valley news:

Robert Dale, the baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Magnussen, died of pneumonia at Rock Valley on Monday morning at 1:30 A.M. following a two week’s illness. Mrs. Magnussen was formerly Iola Osborne of Rock Valley. The baby was approximately three months old.

His death certificate (informant Oscar Magnuson) has Robert Magnuson, born May 6, 1941 in Hudson, S.D.; parents Robert Magnuson, born in Hudson, and Margaret Osborne, born in Rock Valley; died at 1 a.m. August 11, 1941; cause, broncho pneumonia, duration 1 week; buried in Hudson. His FindaGrave.com page has him as Robert N. Magnuson, with a photo of the joint headstone of him and his father, Robert F. Magnuson (1922-1985).
