Cheila Rae (Johnson) Munkvold, 68, Sioux Center, died Tuesday, May 24, 2022, at Hawarden Regional Healthcare Hospital.

Cheila Rae Munkvold was born Nov. 6, 1953, in McCook, NE, the daughter of Basil and Betty Ann (Martin) Johnson. She grew up in Oxford, NE. Cheila married Luther "Joel" Munkvold Sr. on Dec. 20, 1978, in Canton, SD. Together they lived in South Dakota, Inwood, IA, Rock Rapids, IA and in Huntsville, TX before moving to Sioux Center, IA in 1992.

Luther passed away in 1997. Their son, Luther Munkvold Jr., passed away in an automobile accident on Sept. 10, 1992.

Cheila was a member of First Reformed Church--now Centerpoint Church in Sioux Center, IA.

She is survived by Angela (Johnson) Klehm and spouse, Roland; Arnold K. Johnson and spouse, Deb; Darwin A. Johnson and spouse, Ray; her aunt, Maxine (Johnson) Taylor; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Luther Sr.' and her son, Luther Jr. (Jody).

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Any memorials may be directed to the family in care of Jan Henryson, 605 First Ave. SE, Sioux Center, IA 51250.

Cheila and her family are grateful for the many people and organizations that have helped her through the years.
