From the Alton Democrat, June 27, 1941, Boyden news:

Robert Lee Brink, 4-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Brink, passed away at the Hull hospital on Friday morning, due to an infection after stepping on a nail which resulted in lock jaw. Funeral services were held Monday morning at the home here and interment was made in the Rock Valley cemetery.

From the Boyden Reporter, June 26, 1941:

ROBERT LEE BRINK

Funeral services were held on Monday, June 23, for Robert Lee Brink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Gradus Brink, at the age of four years, who died of a blood infection. The services were held on Monday at ten o’clock at the home with Rev. J. W. Brink in charge. Mrs. L. Rensink sang, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” He has one sister, Colleen Kay, age five years. He was baptized in the Lutheran church.

He was born on October 24, 1937, at Sanborn, and died at the age of three years, seven months, and twenty-seven days, at the Hull Hospital. Cause of death was a blood-poisoning, caused by stepping on a nail.

Pallbearers were Warren VanDen Brink, Richard Rensink, Arnold Stegemann, and Russell Brink, uncle of Robert Lee. Interment was made in Rock Valley.

Close relatives who attended the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Dick Van Wyke and two children of Canton, South Dakota; Russell Brink of Pomona, California; Mr. and Mrs. A. Kuiper, Mrs. John Winters, and Mr. and Mrs. Tunis Peitens, all of Hartley; Mrs. W. Bondersma and son of Primghar; Mrs. A. Byers of Sheldon; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Brink and daughter and husband of Maurice; and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Grogan of Sanborn.

His death certificate (informant Gradus Brink) has Robert Lee Brink; resident of Boyden; born Oct. 24, 1937 in Hull; parents Gradus Brink, born in Iowa, and Goldie C. Sease, born in Colorado; died in the Hull Hospital, where he had been for 6 days, at 5:10 a.m. June 20, 1941; cause, meningitis, duration 1 week, due to infected nail puncture left foot, duration 6 days. He does not appear in the Sioux County Cemetery Index. His FindaGrave.com page includes a photo of his headstone with full birth and death dates, but no information in addition to the above.
