Ancestry.com identifies the child as Thomas Ellwood Longshore born 1 Sep 1878 Iowa City IA died 22 Mar 1879 O’Brien County IA. Three other children listed Hannah 1881-1914, Rudoph 1883-1959 and Elsie Garrett – 1914.

Dr. Longshore and wife have the sympathy of the entire community in the loss of their little child, which died last Saturday. The doctor and wife have been very sick but we understand they are convalescent, and we hope to see the doctor out on the street again soon.

The I880 census of Sheldon Ia list Dr. Channing Longshore age 38 1842 born PA Wife Maria P Pierce no children listed with them. Channing born 1842 died 1935 buried Sheldon IA.
